buzz-a-mom2

This week of June 15th, Family on the Phone buzzes BizzieMommy Stephanie Elie. Stephanie is a very busy mom who works both inside and outside the home. She has two children and a husband who supports her wearing so many hats.

Her website portrays her journey to her goal of financial freedom. How many of you can identify with that goal? She has been blogging for years but started this website just a while ago. She wants to be an inspiration to other work at home moms everywhere. I think she’s doing a great job at that!

I was able to catch up with Stephanie this week and ask her about how the technology in her life (particularly her cell phone) helps her accomplish her goals. I hope you enjoy her answers as much as I did.

I understand that you are very into technology and gadgets, especially pink ones! I saw on your website you have a Blackberry Curve (in pink of course). Does it have lots of bells and whistles? What is your favorite feature on your phone?

I actually don’t have a BlackBerry Curve anymore. I purchased an iphone a couple of months ago and love it.  I was able to adjust to the touch screen fairly easy. I love all of the applications you can add to the phone and most of them are free or under $2. It’s hard to say which feature I like the best but I do enjoy the ability to utilize all of my social networking tools directly through the phone whether its Twitter, Facebook or Whrrl.

Your children are a bit young for phones, but do you think you’ll let them get a cell phone when they start asking?

My children are too young to have cell phones right now, however when the times comes I will problem get them one. A couple of years ago I would have said no way, but now I can see the benefits. I would most likely get then one for emergency use only when I think they’re old enough to accept the responsibility.

What do you think about the laws prohibiting talking and texting while driving? Are they an invasion of our rights or necessary?

What do I think about laws prohibiting talking and texting while driving? I don’t have a problem with the current law, hands free talking while driving, and it’s easy enough to use a wireless headset. Texting while driving should be prohibited, even though I am guilty of attempting it myself; it is very distracting and forces you to take your eyes off the road.

Do you still have a landline phone or do you and your family rely solely on cell phones?

We turned off our landline phone over a year ago and I don’t miss it at all. My husband and I both have iphones and our families are all under the same mobile phone provider so we no longer need the landline. We did set up a Vonage account and number so we are able to send out faxes.

How important is your cell phone to your WAH business?

Since I’m still working full-time outside of the home while I build my business my mobile phone is an important necessity. I am able to check inventory, reply to email and voicemail messages during my breaks. I don’t know what I would do without it.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Stephanie Elie for taking  time out of her busy schedule to do an interview with me! Thanks Stephanie! Good luck with everything you do! You can find her at either Bizziemommy or Lalababyboutique.
