I agree. I think it is crazy how much the cell phone companies charge for those text messages. The tips for parents are really the same as those for kids. Knowing what your needs are and what plan may best fit your usage is the best way to save money. There's no use paying for services you don't use. I personally use the friends and family calling circle to it's fullest advantage and I do the e-mail texting as much as possible when I need to send texts. Hope this is helpful to you.

My son does pretty good with the minutes on the phone. He knows that incoming calls are not charged for. He knows who he can use mobile to mobile with. He talks more after 7 as it's unlimited minutes. We have a texting plan so I am not worried about the texts. I must say he has been pretty responsible with it.

Nikki, thanks for the tips. It amazes me how much texting costs and how much teens do it! Do you have any basic tips to reduce the bill for moms and dads? :0)
